There are two models of #8 3-bottom plow. One can be reduced to 2-bottom (#8), the other can't (#8L)
A #8L plow will have a wider pull bar and a third main beam in between the two that are attached to the pull bar.
On a #8, the third bottom will flare out from the second bottom and kind of "stick out" to the left as you sit on the tractor. It LOOKS like it was added on.
Removing the bottom is as simple as unbolting the tail wheel, the beam and the brace. Bolt the tail wheel to the corresponding holes on the second bottom.
The only part you might need is the 2-bottom lift arm for the tailwheel. On the 3-bottom #8, the tailwheel lift arm is bolted to the axle leg outside the frame. On the 2-bottom, the lift arm is clamped to the axle shaft in between the 1st and 2nd bottom beams.
Other than the heavy lifting, it is easy and obvious.
