My H was always a reliable starting tractor until a few years ago when someone stole the original starter switch. I installed a new switch labeled for H & M applications. Then the tractor was slow cranking and the switch got hot. A friend cranked on his tractor too much and burned up the switch. Today I helped a gentleman with a tractor problem and noticed he had a new switch. When it didn't start right off, the switch got hot. Conclusion is the new switches can't carry the load.
Maybe the person that stole mine wasn't so dumb knowing it was a better switch than a new one.
Now, for the question. Does anyone know a source for for a GOOD quality starter switch that can carry the load without getting too hot to touch? I can't say for sure, but I believe my old switch had 3/8" studs. All the new ones I see are 5/16" studs. K-Mo
