With an "O"ring seal, the best is to just use a speedy sleeve, Then the groove for the O ring in the housing must be machined to slightly larger to allow the sleeve to go into the housing. The Speedy Sleeve or other brand repair sleeve is usually available at a good auto parts store. Teflon "O"rings can be found to make it a great repair. Plan the process such that it can be assembled.
