I'm with Rick. Noise with the slinger usually starts out as a ticking and progresses to a slight pounding. The beauty of the situation is that the slinger is the last gear on the bottom shaft and thus you get to dissasembe the ENTIRE transmission to replace it. In short, don't be too concerned about the noise, it can be repaired.
