I would say that is a good price for any Super MD, much less one that has been overhauled. Where are the pictures??? As for start-up and shut down, you will probably get a few different answers. Personally, I was always told that the head trouble is general caused by the small starting valves on the gas side; thus you never want to let them get very hot. So I switch mine over as soon as possible (probably within a minute or less of starting). Always shut down on diesel; if you have been working it and its hot, let it idle for a little bit to cool down and then shut it off. Thats just my opinion though...
