I think it is just an uninformed person trying to describe a 9 speed transmission such as were made by M+W and Heisler. One of those at least is cable operated but I can't recall which as I have never owned either. They are not all that rare, but I have heard that they are nice for pulling wagons over the road. Zach

As I grew older (7), it was the thrill of my day to ride or drive on the tractor. My Papaw had a 1954 IH Super A that he bought to replace a Cub.
