You'll be alright. You should NEVER twist a power shaft. There is a reason shear pins/bolts are in the system. Your weakest link would probably be your rear end, but you'll be alright there for quite a while.
Look at the South Central Wisconsin Tractor Pullers gas class. There are TONS of Ms in the class putting out 100+ hp and I haven't heard of any major problems.
