Can't remember exactly how all the parts are placed, but B primary pump has the bypass valve that I think you mention. Small hole is a passage to the suction side of the primary pump. Any fuel that leaks past the distibutor valves is supposed to be sucked in. If a original gasket is between injection and primary pump it has a small hole for the passage both ways its installed. If someone made a gasket the holes may not be open to each other. Sump oil can get to the primary pump drive end.
