Michael, Great post and I agree precisely. I grew up in small grain country of Northern North Dakota (late 1940s and early 1950s) and there were WD-9s everywhere it seemed. To be fair, I have to say John Deere Rs were very popular too.

As I grew older (7), it was the thrill of my day to ride or drive on the tractor. My Papaw had a 1954 IH Super A that he bought to replace a Cub.
