Steel pipe can be easily torched out of a cast fitting (that includes a manifold) with no damage what-so-ever to the threads. In fact, you would have to be a real klutz not to do a perfect job even if it is your first experience. Slice it in three places and the fragments will fall out. If you don't have the equipment, someone should be able to do it for $10. Think about replacing the pipe with stainless steel threaded pipe nipple.
