Rustred is correct. I will point out that the chain wrench is squeezing the ring that needs to get loose to turn. The inertia of the part you are whacking is much greater than the adjuster. Thus you are hitting the heavier thing to shock the lighter. Put propane torch heat on the ring. then tap it with a brass hammer on the two Bosses (one of which is near the Vice grip chain wrench) not steel. The chain wrench also twists into even more compression when it is under stress. Jim
