I have a chance to buy a D282 engine for a 706 diesel. The chap had a 706, with new tires and a good drive line, but it needed engine work. Rather than do the engine he acquired another tractor that had poor tires and needed serious transmission work, with the intention of doing an engine swap. He removed the engine from the parts tractor and never got around to doing the swap before passing away. It has been stored inside a heated garage since then. I heard it run before he removed it and it sounded nice, and had good oil pressure too.
What should I expect to pay for what I'll call a good 'drop-in' engine, complete with injection pump and water pump.
