No,I dont believe so.As long as the axle bearings are good and the sealing surface of the axle is not damaged.
If you do have to pull them out,it isnt that difficult to do.I am sure there are many on here who have ACTUALLY done it.(Reading about it,it doesnt have too many parts to deal with.)I am sure someone will "chime in " on this to give you some of the details.
You are talking about the rear axle seals,NOT the brake pinion seals?
