Don, looks like this gas issue has been beat around pretty good, but I never did see a direct answer to your direct question. So I'm gonna take a stab at it. First a disclaimer: Although I have a couple of the six cylinder IH gas tractors, I haven't had them long enough to tell anything definitively. That being said(and I too have read the operators manuals describing the need for 93 octane Research Method) I agree with your calculations that the 89 octane at the pump would equate to 93 octane Research Method. Don't know if anyone else out there agrees, but that is my take on it. Guess I'll eventually find out; I plan on running them. Maybe somebody else will give their thought on the issue.
