All of these older Farmalls have a one piece shift lever, and there is supposed to be a bell shaped cover and spring on the lever. That cover will prevent you from seeing the actual shifter pin, but maybe the bell is already missing? Personally, I've never encountered any difficulty in removing that pin. Just a hammer and a punch and it comes right out. Another thought---. Maybe that pin is worn enough that it is hanging up in the shift lever? You might try moving the shift lever forward and back while at the same time hammering on the pin. Not likely it is rusted in. If it is, you have some other, more serious issues to deal with.
