Well the plug was steel (or maybe lead? ) and he got it out, the pin came right out, the shifter was so gunked up he thought there was rubber in there. He had to scrape it off all over the lower part of the shift lever and the swivel pin and when he put the lever back down into the tranny gears it shifted well. Came back out covered with more very thick crud.
What is the best (easiest) way to clean all of that old crud out of the gears? Hopefully not having to take out the tranny, lol.
The end of the shifter looks fine, but the swivel pin is sloppy, so we are buying that Sloppy Shifter Fix from ebay, thanks for the tip!
