Please pardon my lack of basic knowledge but I can not figure out this problem. I have a IH 1466 that I am tinkering on. When I got the tractor the headlights and dashlights would not work. First I replaced the bulbs: not the problem. A friend at work said to check the fuse in the fuse holder next to the light switch. Sure as heck, no fuse in fact the fuse holder was mucked up. Replaced the fuse holder, put in a new fuse, headlights came on. Problem was the switch was not on. When I turned the light switch on, the dash lights came on and the headlights dimmed. Turn the switch to the next setting, dash lights stay on and headlights brighten. I bought a new switch and put it in thinking this would solve the problem. It did not (was careful to hook then new switch up the same as the old one). Only way to turn the lights off is to take out fuse. I have a shop manual for this tractor but does not show schematic for wiring. I think the previous owner may have fiddled with the wires. Any suggestions on how to remedy this problem or to find the schematics. Thank you.
