when I timed my cub I removed number 1 plug,put your finger in the hole,turn engine over by hand until you feel air comming out of the hole.Now watch crank pully for notch on pully to line up with the pointer and stop there,Now install the mag, The slot should be about 2 oclock,Turn the mag all the way in to the engine, tighten the 2 bolts finger tight so you can still move it.Now slowly turn the mag away from the engine until you hear the mag snap.Tighten it there.The mag should be timed now you can line up the rotor with number 1 on the cap and you should be all set to start it, hope this helped, Wayne
