hmm.. it's a tractor.. not a parade queen tires are tires. a non checked small car tire is gonna 'look' better than a ragged checked tractor tire. I'm a bit perplexed with the pig/lipstick/junky comment.
I'll asusme you are one of those sphinter police/retentive types that only cares for a 100000% original tractor and count off points when you see things that are not exactly like it was in 48. I'll keep that in mind while thinking about the rest of the comments :(
take a load
Hmm.. my heaviest loader tractor i HAD to put car radials on for the loads it was carrying... ribbed tires were leaking deep ruts inmy pasture when carrying 2000# hay bales.. car tires fixed that.
PS.. the 'car tires' my C current has on them are RATED for 60 psi, and that's what I have in them.. one of them anyway..
plus, I'm not sure what load you may think there is on the front of my C.. it's probbaly got the lightest front of any of my tractors ??
steering?
covered above. narrow profile provided more steering vs wide and flat. usually there is a trade off for naor profile vs weight distribution of a wider flatter tire.. thus you can go for extreme weight or for responsive steering. since this is a lil minscule tractor with a 15" rim holding something like a 4 x or 5x tire.. it's a small profiel no matter what.. should turn fine.
