Recieved mt 100% brand new starter the other day, put it on the tractor, click...thats it. I have nice newer heavy cables, cleaned and checked all connections.....click, no start. Took off the starter, put it on the bench, hit it with agood 6 volt battery and it spins good, held the drive with a channel lock and the starter did"nt put up a fight at all. Back on the tractor and nothing but a faint click. Battery shows 6.30 volts, same at the post on the starter switch where the neg cable hooks up, 6.30 volts, with the switch to starter cable disconnected, there is 6.30 volts when start button is pushed at the switch terminal, but when I hook the cable to the starter and push the start button, the voltage on the starter side of the switch drops to about 3.40 volts.Am I missing somthing here or do you think (I do) that I was sent a bad starter? The starter I took off came off my O-6 awhile back. I purchased this new one so I could return the loaner starter to the other tractor. It is too late in the day to get in touch with the vendor I purchased the starter from. For some reason, Im not looking forward to trying to return it, shipping ect, plus, the cheesy nut on the cable post kind of booger"ed the threads a little after tighening it several times...ugh
