Marty may be experienced as a eBay seller, but he doesn't have a clue on how to run his business. I think your understanding is flawed as well. A good seller will not tolerate any negative feedback even if he is selling used merchandise. He will bend over backwards to achieve 100% buyer satisfaction. Those sellers do exist.
The auto companies have been using the Marty Model for years. They will cut corners and know that the law suits will be filed. They figure that is just a cost of doing business and it is cheaper than doing the right thing. It didn't work and that is why we had the auto bailouts. Yes, that is a simplified explanation and doesn't factor in labor problems, govt mandates, unfair foreign competition, economic downturn, and a litigious consuming public.
Marty doesn't do the following:
Inspect parts for serviceability
disassemble with care
describe parts accurately
submit good photos
package well
adopt the "consumer is always right" attitude even if he is an a-hole
His method is too kill as many tractors as possible and make room for more. In other words, move the iron via UPS or the dumpster.
So he uses the block bidder option to artificially distort his Feedback number and reduce his need for stress medications. Blocking is the single biggest reason his parts get so few bids or even no bids. He is killing his market. He is not "winning". He is slowly destroying his business. Just look at the number of people on these threads who won't patronize him.
If I can, I will continue to do business with him only because of price erosion due to his self-induced limited market. I will only bid what might be considered non-destructable items. That bail fit the description. Now I know that I cannot bid hard to ship items. I'd like to get a spare but cheap planetary IPTO, but that is out of the question.
