Got the dipstick installed on the 1950 'H'. What a relief, goodbye to those PITA petcocks. Works great, feels so good I may remove the stupid things and put in pipe plugs. A few things to be aware of; First, that boss on the side of the block under the distributor isn't as simple as it looks, it is 2 3/4" thick. You have to drill through 2 3/4" of cast iron to get down to oil. Youj can do it, and if I can, anybody can, but do it careful, make sure you don't break off a bit. 2nd, make sure you go ahead and remove the pan. You will drill and drill and tap, and shed off lots of shavings. Last, the stick clears the rotating crank by about 3/4". Make sure you drill at the correct angle, don't drill too far towards the center of the pan. Gonna go out and check oil again.
