Hi All, I picked up a little trick 20yrs ago and thought I'd pass it on. If you don't have a timing light available here's how to time. Set engine RPM at 1500rpm. Advance distributor until engine just starts missing. Retard timing until the miss quits. Then retard 40rpm more. Lock bolt. After you've timed a few like this you won't even need a tach and after a few dozen you can check it with a light and it's really close to the mark. On really worn out engines, setting timing this way accounts for all worn out parts and will make the engine run better sometimes. Hope this helps. ...T_Bone
