While you have that plug out of the front of the steering gear housing, check the ball bearing that is held in by the castle nut that Rick said to tighten. That bearing costs less than $10 and if it is worn replacing it will have a significant affect on the steering play. I replaced that bearing on my MD and it took nearly all the play out. To get the bearing out, you will have to disconnect the universal joint in the steering wheel shaft. Once you have done that, with the plug out of the front of the steering gear, you can simply screw the worm gear and shaft right out. Also a good time to replace the seal on the worm gear shaft. I did them one at a time, so took it apart twice. Live and learn!
