With the hi-domed pistons you dont need to mill the head. If you are looking for more HP change the head with one from a 340. Pushrods can be straightened easy or i have some just need the length of what you need. Better get your starter serviced with new brushes commutator refreshed and bearings so you can start when done. Also get 1ga new cables and ground to the hy assy. Running the ground back to steering post isnt a good idea as you need the ground close to the starter and no you dont need to go to 12v
