I did the same thing. My dad got me a welder about 4 years ago for Christmas and I learned from there. I read on here, Googled stuff, and watched Youtube videos. If you want a cheap but reliable welder try Harbor Frieght. Some people run at that name. My welder is awesome. It's a 90 amp flux core. They go on sale a lot. Usually around $100 -$110. And there automatic darkening helmet is awesome. $40 -$50 and it is almost a must if you wanna weld. I am not the best walter but I have learned on my own and haven't had to pay a whole lot for my stuff. If you have any questions my email is open through here. -Keith
