I have owned the tractor for about a year.It was brought back from the dead by an older gentelman.He told me he changed the fluid and put a new trans filter in it.I was able to mow with it all summer witch was twice because of the drought. When u lift the 2 pt. u have to feather the lever to make it stop without lugging the motor.When I took the mower off ,now u cant get the 2 pt. to stop without killing the motor and pucking foamy fluid out the breather on top. All help is greatly appreciated in advance. Also checked the filter he said he replaced and it looked old and tornup.

Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
