From past experience working in a foundry, any cast poured needs to "cure" sitting outside for months. This releives any stress caused by the casting process. Those date codes are the day the part was cast, they placed a "date plate" in the mold prior to pour. This was a trace for the part in case any problems were experienced later in production. Casting was always way ahead of production.
