I didn't post this question into the right forum apparently. Oh well, call me a newbie to the site!
I have an IH 574 with the usual parking brake problem, but now know how to fix that. However, shifting into 4th gear is a "black art" to say the least. It will always grind horribly as if the gear was missed, whether stopped or moving, forward, neutral or reverse. Rolling with constant engine speed sometimes is successful. When I do manage to get it into 4th, it operates properly with no noise. I have adjusted the linkages but start to throw out the other gear alignments as I try to stretch for more rod to get into 4th. Does anyone have any suggestions?
