Had two D-17's bad stuck like this. Removed head and used TRUST by Castle. This foams it's way into rust and works well. Immediatly went to work on the stuck pistons with a block of wood trimed to fit the outer edge of the piston so's not to knock the center out, and a sledge. One I had to put a wrench on the crank to assist.I alt. between cyl. till I got about an inch of travel on the crank then just kept the Trust going in while wipping rust out. When I got a couple of decent rounds on the crank I filled the crankcase with fresh oil and pulled it down the drive, about a 1000 yards. The friction of pulling it at operating rpm's heated the cylinders, removed the rest of the rust, and unstuck the rings. It did bind the engine back up with all the friction, but the new oil kept anything from goulding up and after putting on the head and filling with water it would spin with the starter. Cranked right up. Both tractors are still running after 4 years, they smoke a little from weak rings but some of that was probably due to wear before it sat. Anyway I got out cheap and didn't have to tear it all down to get running. I've also had to wrap a chain around the block and use a hydrolic jack, hope it does'nt come to that. David
