Received an I & T Manual today in order to determine engine specifications on a 656 diesel tractor that I am working on. One of the specifications I was most wanting to determine is the cylinder sleeve protrusion on my engine. The manual gives a .001 to .004 inch dimension for engine serials less than 71788 and a maximum allowance of .002" variance between cylinders. It does not however give dimensions for engines with serial numbers higher than 71788 but only that the height gauge tool bottoms out on the cylinder block. What are the dimensions for the cylinder protrusion above the block if one does not have that tool. This tractor was bought not running from a tractor jockey and I discovered a blown head gasket between number 2 and 3 cylinders. Had the cylinder head checked by a professional mechanic that indicated the head was not warped. From what I observed in taking this engine apart this far is that someone had been inside this engine before. Thanks in advance for any specs you can share.
