Been a couple good rainy days here, so I finally got my SMTA in the shop and got to re-working the wiring. I decided to go with a Hitachi 14231 Alternator. I followed the Reworked Version of Bob M's wiring diagram, that was posted a few days ago by Jason the Red (see link below, I hope...)
Everything seems to be working fine. Good reading on the ampmeter, Solid 14+ volts at the battery when running. Problem is when I hit the kill switch, it doesn't kill. My weak minded diagnosis is that I'm getting charging voltage from the L terminal on the alt-back to the ignition switch, which is providin voltage to the coil?? When I remove that wire from the ignition switch, it works as it should. Is my alternator bad? I'm stumped.
