Has anyone got actual experience of clogging an engine when switching to detergent oil? I always switch a new tractor to detergent oil and have not yet had a problem, but I may have just been lucky. But I have had some I had to poke a stick in the drain hole to get the sludge and water out in order to change the oil the first time. The sluggish gauge on the C is probably sludge in the gauge supply. Was the bottom of the oil filter housing cleaned out well? take the gauge off and clean out the oil passage with carb cleaner.
