Yes, rotate the engine with the crank until #1 at TDC. Check through hole in bottom of clutch housing. Easier to turn with plugs removed. Reading from manual: Loosen the magneto mounting bolts and retard the timing by rotating the top of the magneto in the normal direction of rotation (clockwise). (You only need to rotate about 30 or 40 degrees.) Crank engine one complete revolution and align timing marks as before. Advance magneto by rotating opposite to normal rotation until impulse coupling snaps; then tighten the magneto mounting bolts. Now the timing should be set and #1 plug firing at TDC at idle. Proper advance will occur as engine speed varies. An owners manual and service manual is a good thing to have. Get them
