Recently I purchased a 53 Super C from my aunt and uncles estate. I am the second owner; I even have the purchase doc’s (real cool). Paid $800 for it, because it has not been started in fifteen+ years. So far I have had great luck with it, it runs and moves just fine with minimal smoke. The first question I have is about the fast hitch. Because the drawbar is the fast hitch, is there a lock for proper working height? The owner’s manual advertises the use of the remote system on externally drawn implements, the cylinder even has quick pins for easy removal. However, I would think that the hitch would have to be locked into position for this to work? Second question, I found a tractor mounted IH corn planter buried in another barn on the same farm. It looks very similar to the McCormick 234CU-F251 (fast hitch mounted) planter. I have found most of the parts I need including the fertilizer unit, but still have bit of stuff missing or in need of replacement. Can anyone tell me what model this is? Does anyone know of any salvage yards were I can find parts and also is there any good manuals still in print? I would really like to have this thing intact and operable. I have never seen a mounted planter on a Super C before. Thank Jason B

In my younger days, mom, dad and my brother made frequent visits to dad's youngest brother Pete, who took over the home farm from grandpa MIke. It was the typical set-up, milk cows, pigs & chickens.
