I got a set of Farmall H rear fenders, complete with the eight required spacers. A trip to Melbourne and I had 8 ½" UNC bolts, hex head and a ½" UNC plug tap to clean the years of junk out of the holes. My brother and I started work by digging the solid dirt out with a screwdriver and blowing the fragments out with compressed air. So far so good. The off side fender went on beautifully. On the near side, however, it became apparent that the two centre holes in the axle are completely stripped. There is no thread left at all. Is a stainless steel re-thread the way to go? I can't really use bigger bolts, unless I get wider spacers to take them. I think perhaps a re-thread coil about 1¼" long? Any ideas before I start drilling, tapping and bolting again? Thanks,
