I don't know if it would be the same thread size, but my Swisher trail mower has a Tecumseh vertical shaft engine on it with a very cute little drain valve for the oil. It has a knurled knob for the shutoff, and even came with a piece of clear plastic tubing about 8" long to slip on it before draining the oil into whatever is handy. If your drain valve has an extended tube on the outside, you could put a similar piece of plastic tubing on it and catch the oil in something.
