Thanks to Brownie and Jim. The missing is minor and largely goes away was the tractor warms up. On the other hand the throttle issue gets worse. I will check the linkeage and see what I can determine...and the carb too.
Still runs pretty good for a sixty-year old tractor that has had some hard wear. As I mention earlier, my dad purchased it new in 1952. My mom sold it in 1962 to my uncle after my dad died. My uncle sold it to a neighbor when he sold out in 1981. I tried since 1991 to get it back and finally I purchased it back in 2006 when the neighbor sold out. There was antifreeze in the oil, and I just got that fixed (new o-rings). By in large the fellow who fixed it said the pistons and rings look good. Hard to tell if it has ever been overhauled over the years.
