The pressure plates are supposed to be pre-adjusted. You might check and confirm that the adjustments are all the same height. Be sure the the pedal has the correct free play, about 1 inch, I don't have my manual handy. Anyway adjusting the pressure plate usually does no good as all it does is change the pedal free play, easier to adjust the pedal. Andrew is correct on the gear clash -- otherwise you have something installed wrong, or the pilot bearing is dragging. Good idea to replace the pilot and release bearings with the clutch. Be sure to lubricate the new pilot bearing as it cannot be greased from the outside.
