His spring ritual, before setting up the scuffler - cultivators; since they were always stored in the shed over winter; was to disassemble the large lift cylinder clean it take the leather ring at the bottom of the cylinder rod and soak it in motor oil for several days, then reassemble. It always worked first time when he did this; otherwise OUCH! The other advise you have received from the others is note worthy, Happy scuffling. Wm. too.
