Hydraulic pump question

I recently purchased a hyd pump for my I300 utility and noticed that the in/out connections have O-rings. I don't have the part that mates to the pump body, so I'll make one I thought, but was wondering if I need to cut groves for O-rings in the mating piece where the hyd lines connect? Does anyone have a similar pump taken apart? And, could they let me know what it is supposed to look like, groves or flat.
