USA non diesel tractors that size didn't come with 12 volts until the 400 LP. During 1957 all 450 tractors got the 12 volts. MD used two 6 volt batteries with a 12 volt system. If the 50 M has a voltage regulator, a look alike generator and voltage regulator from the late fifties or early sixties along with a light bulb change was about all that was needed exept a resistor or coil made to use without a resistor. Starter could have work or be a regular M one. Also I have installed 12 volt starters from some later models on 2 bolt M drive housings.
