Well.....I've got a Farmall H, M, and SM that seem to have thrived on a steady diet of high-detergent SAE 30 in the engines AND lift-all units for their entire lives. The only leak I've got in those systems is one quick-coupler that has a tendency to seep a little sometimes. I'm pretty sure that SAE 30 Non-detergent was recommended by our IH dealership years ago for use in these units before HY-Tran came into popularity. I haven't bothered to keep non-detergent around for years, just dumped the other stuff in. In cold weather, I've even used 10W-30. I suppose there's an exception to every rule and someone who always has outstanding luck, but I don't think I'm gonna drain and re-fill them any time soon.... I'm not a lubrication engineer, but I think most modern hydraulic fluids and ATF are mineral-based, not from vegetable origin.
