A few weeks ago I posted about how the fan belt on my 350 was flipping over after an hour or so of run time. I got some good suggestions but nothing was working out. Well, I got to looking at it after the new belt flipped for the second time and noticed the set screw was not in a groove, even though I know it was assembled correctly. I then noticed the threaded sheave half was further out than I had set it. What I discovered was that the bottom of the screw hole and the threads were packed with hard dirt and what I thought was tight wasn't even getting the dog point of the screw into the groove. (I had never fully removed the screw so didn't realize there shouldn't have been so much sticking out.) I'm thinking the belt gradually worked itself loose enough to flip over at which point it was tight again because it was riding up in the sheaves. The threaded half starts getting snug about where it stopped moving so it stayed in that position. It is all cleaned up and reassembled now so we'll see what happens.
