I recommend avoiding using the "dim" light setting on 12V.
Dim lights are pretty much worthless to begin with, but the real reason is due to the resistor in the light switch that makes the lights dim. It's designed for 3 bulbs on 6 Volts. You're going to 12 Volts, so the resistor may overheat and fail.
