David: You said it turned over a couple times and then nothing.. That doesn't sound like a stuck starter but that's maybe the best place to begin. Loosen starter up just in case it did jam with the ring gear. Try rocking it a bit in highest gear(switch off and\or coil wire off) See if fan indicates turning engine. Don't pull it with another tractor as much damage can result since you just bought it and it may have been "patched" just to sell. Try and get and use a hand crank? Report back. Next may be to drop pan or remove valve cover to see if something broke. I'll hope it's just a stuck starter. harvey
