another possibility is a plug was left out of oil passage when cleaned prior to assembly. have heard of this happening particularly on oil passages that are drilled thru from front of engine near timing gear and plugged after drilling note not familliar with this engine but it isa possibility. one way I have heard of to check out is remove oil pan and pump oil in thru where pressure gage hooks up and look for excessive leakage ( 1 ga. weed sprayer filled with oil?)
