When you take out the bolts behind the flange on which the belt pulley mounts, you should be able to pull out the assembly which includes two bearings, the shaft and the gear that drives it. If you need to replace the shaft seal, you need a bearing press to get the bearings off because they are a press fit. I took mine to a shop that does things like that. You have to take the bearings off to replace the shaft seal. When you put it back together, there is no gasket under the flange that holds the assembly in the tractor, just shims to adjust the gear clearance. Be sure to put the shims back like you found them and that the shims are perfectly clean. I got a little dirt or something under mine and still have a small leak.
