I can't help you with the head but I can tell you that the differential holds 13 gallons of lube. Use a 80/90 weight oil not hy-tran.The hy-tran will cause shifting problems, viscosity too light. I used Mobil synthetic 629.Not cheap but I will plow snow with this tractor and did'nt want the oil to be like mud at 20 below. Also the check plug should be justabout a foot ahead of the left axel housing. There is also another drain plug on the front of the case that lets out another few quarts.Best thing you could do now is order a repair and a parts manual for your new trator. I went thru most of this a year ago with my SM,believe me those books are worth every penny! You can order by clicking on tractor manuals on the left side of your screen. Industrial motor sounds interesting,my book says some of those rpm'ed at 1800 instead of 1650!
