I have been having trouble with this transmission staying in 1st gear and lots of gear noise when holding it in gear with stick shift and moving. Thought it would be easier to just swap out another tranny than try to tear down and repair this one but seems as though not many of these left around. Truck is a 1963 VIN C55BU382677 and number on top of trans is T98A-148A and on left(drivers) side of trans is T98A-1A. Can anyone tell me what other years of truck 4 speeds will bolt up to my bellhousing and work? If it matters, it is a grain truck and needs a PTO.
